Michael J. Pineda is a Honduran-American singer, songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist based in the Chicagoland area. Primarily a saxophonist, Michael leads his own ensembles—MANO, Michael Pineda Quartet, The Madness, and La Onda Azul—and performs as a sought after sideman across a diverse range of genres including jazz, funk, blues, hip-hop, experimental/avant-garde, and Latin music. He composes and arranges music primarily for saxophone, guitar, and piano, and also performs as a vocalist in specialized settings.

Michael is a multi-disciplinary musician that is dedicated to using his musical platform to craft innovative and emotionally resonant experiences that explore the human condition, fostering spaces for expression, healing, and expression. He has worked on projects including improvising on-stage with contemporary dancers, composing and performing a suite that represents natural environments with a harpist, and a short film score titled Delivery Fee, contributing to the development of interpretive AI models that translate saxophone sounds into bird and machine noises.

​​He is currently working on playing, recording, and releasing years worth of original music and collaborating with as many other artists and organizations as he can. In addition to pursuing his musical endeavors, Michael's mission is to use his music as a medium of creative philanthropy, helping people steward their resources through meaningful experiences, such as his concerts.
